2. Rest

One of the best treatments for pleurisy is simply resting. Whenever you feel ill, you should always get as much rest as possible. This allows your body time to heal itself. In the case of pleurisy, rest will also keep you from needing to take deep or rapid breaths that cause the chest pain associated with the condition. The more energy you exert, the more work your lungs – and consequently, the membranes surrounding them – will need to do. Therefore, you should try to rest as much as possible and avoid any strenuous activities that would leave you out of breath or require your lungs to work harder.
