Autism is a developmental disorder that affects an individual’s social and communication abilities. The earliest signs manifest before three years of age, and therapeutic interventions are the only possible treatments. Early detection helps autistic children get the special attention they need. Both the child and the parents need to develop coping mechanisms for dealing with the symptoms of autism. Therefore, as parents, you must be sensitive to your child’s behavioral characteristics – the following signs should alert you to the possibility of autism.
1. Intense Struggle With Ordinary Activity
All children have different developmental paces and personal traits. Some take on concepts of sociability, playing, hygiene, and so on faster than others. However, if you find your child to be struggling with all kinds of ordinary activities, you should begin being more observant. If there seems to be no improvement in your child’s adeptness at understanding or accepting concepts despite repeated emphasis, they could have autism.
