Most people sometimes experience heartburn and in the vast majority of cases there is no reason for any concern. Despite the name of this condition it actually has no connection with the heart. Heartburn is really acid indigestion and it is connected with the esophagus rather than the heart. However, since the esophagus and heart are close to each other and heart pains could be linked to either of them, these kinds of pain make people uneasy. Heartburn occurs when stomach acids go up into the esophagus. The esophagus is not made to deal with acids so their presence there causes pain.

1. Chest Pains

Pains in the chest are the most common sign of heartburn. Although this pain is usually felt in the chest it sometimes also affects the throat and neck. If this person belches and then finds that the pains go away of their own accord after a short while it identifies their source as heartburn. If the pains continue they should not hesitate to contact their doctor just to make sure that the pains do not come from the heart.
