Underneath your liver is a small organ called the gallbladder. The purpose of the gallbladder is to help store, concentrate, and secrete bile to help digest fatty foods even though your liver alone produces enough bile for normal digestion. With that being said, some people who experience problems with their gallbladder such as painful abdominal cramps can have it surgically removed. However, surgery is often the last resort. Making changes to your diet is often the best way to manage symptoms. If you do have your gallbladder removed, your body may still have problems digesting these foods. It is best to avoid them altogether to prevent uncomfortable aches and pains.

1. High-Fat Dairy Foods

If you have a sweet tooth, you will have to feed your craving with something other than ice cream. Other high-fat dairy foods like yogurt, sour cream, cottage cheese, and homogenized milk can also aggravate your gallbladder. If you want to prevent painful digestive symptoms, then avoid high-fat dairy products. You can try to find low-fat varieties of ice cream, cheese, and other dairy foods in an effort to enjoy your favorites without the uncomfortable cramps, but discuss these options with your doctor before snacking.
