Canker sores can be a terrible little annoyance, you can have more than one, and in some cases, they can make it painful for you talk or eat. Mainly, they are small ulcers located on the inside of your lip or cheek, and sometimes even on your tongue. They usually have either a white or yellow center with a red border around them. They can be painful for 7 to 10 days, while the minor ones will heal in 1 to 3 weeks; on the other hand, the major ones can take up to 6 weeks.
They occur mostly in teens, young adults, and women. Some people can have it as a one-time thing while others will have them regularly, the cause is still unknown, but it is known to run in families. So why do Canker sores even develop? Well mostly because of the following:

  • When eating foods or drinks which are acidic.
  • When you hurt mouth by biting yourself.
  • When you don’t have enough iron, vitamin B12 and folic acid in your system.
  • When women have their menstrual cycle.
  • And because of a huge number of other things such as stress or upon triggering your food allergies.

1. Sage

This herb is widely used in the culinary world, but it is also used in home remedies and homeopathic medicine for years. Native Americans were the first people to use sage in medicine, and they used it to cleanse their mouths and remove canker sores as well.
One of the ways to help yourself is to buy dried sage and boil it in water. Then leave it be in for eight to ten minutes so that the water can absorb all the essential properties. Once you’re done with that, swish the water in your mouth for a couple of minutes and then spit it out and rinse your mouth with cold water.
